Одним із найефективніших способів, які сприяють переходу, це спрямування соціальної енергії нестабільного суспільства на боротьбу із спільним для усіх спільнот ворогом. За доби глобалізації у західній масовій культурі продукується образ спільного ворога — «суб’єкта, здатного до насилля». Одним із таких «суб’єктів» проголошено мусульман.
