Більшість людей сприймають їх як самозакоханих, егоїстичних, самовпевнених та конфліктних особистостей. Усі вище перераховані стереотипи присутні в рекламі та ЗМІ. Вони активно впливають на масову свідомість людей, формують спотворене уявлення про важкоатлетів. Як наслідок, батьки не поспішають віддавати своїх дітей до таких спортивних секцій. Батьки бояться, що заняття важкою атлетикою не лише зіпсують здоров`я дитини, а й чинитимуть негативний вплив на формування особистісних якостей.
