The article presents the main directions of research in the field of psychology of career- guidance. The historical excursus of development the scientific understanding of the problems of professional employment and career choices is done. The researches in this field in the beginning of the twentieth century within the limits of psychotechnics, the postwar formation of psychology of career guidance and modern stage of development of scientific and applied research directions are analyzed in detail. Modern problems of professional employment within the limits Ukrainian social and cultural environment are outlined the, psychological analysis of the possible causes of its appearance and ways of solving is presented. Special attention is paid to the psychological analysis of the problem of person?s freedom of choice in the process of gaining professional skills. Professional choice of person is connected with existential needs of this person. In his work, he realizes his personal needs which are connected not only with the basic needs of man but also with his spiritual development. Career-guidance in practice connected with the labor market. Today, in the labor market is monitored surplus of certain professions because of the unreasonable status positioning of professions. In some branches of economy there is a lack of labor resources due to the fact that these professions are less popular in the community.
