They may be connected by a coordinating conjunction or a preposition. The elements of binomial groupings are characterized by different types of semantic relationships (synonymous, antonymous, associative or the semantic relations between the words belonging to the same semantic field) or can be based on the repetition of their elements or on their alliteration.
