This article explores the dynamics of religious identity within Ukrainian society under the conditions of hybrid and full-scale war with the Russian Federation. Religion, as a key element of collective identity, undergoes significant transformations under the pressure of socio-political challenges and informational-psychological influence. The author presents empirical research findings reflecting shifts in denominational preferences. Particular attention is given to the phenomenon of media religiosity – the capacity of individuals to practice their faith in digital environments. According to the study, Catholics showed the highest level of engagement with digital resources to support their religious life, whereas Orthodox believers maintained more traditional practices. The war has not only heightened religiosity among Ukrainians but has also triggered a reevaluation of church identity and the adaptation of religious practices to a digital society. The article includes sociological survey data that reveal changing public perceptions of churches, denominational attitudes, and growing trust in the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU). Significant attention is devoted to media religiosity as a new phenomenon representing expressions of faith in the digital space. Based on a 2025 study, the paper analyzes believers’ emotional, behavioral, and cognitive engagement in digital religious practices. The highest levels of media religiosity were observed among Catholics and Greek Catholics, who displayed greater openness to digital tools in spiritual life, while Orthodox respondents tended to favor traditional approaches and showed resistance to digitalization. Despite denominational differences, media religiosity emerges as a universal mechanism for adapting religious life to the realities of an information society – especially under wartime conditions. The Church retains its crucial role as an institution of moral support, social integration, and humanitarian assistance. The research holds practical value for psychologists, sociologists, religious scholars, and cultural researchers studying the war’s impact on the transformation of public consciousness and Ukraine’s spiritual landscape.
